About the Author
Sharon lives in Sydney with her husband, three boys, two cheeky boxer dogs and a quirky Scottish-fold cat. She is happiest near the ocean, listening to an audio book or podcast.
Sharon would describe herself as an extraverted introvert who is somewhat of a germaphobe. She is superstitious about the colour red. She loves listening to people’s stories and learning about what makes them tick. She is a collector, a collector of memories. Both good and bad. Her favourite memories are those moments when you laugh so hard it is impossible to stop.
Sharon is a business owner, ADHD coach, podcaster, author and advocate. She is passionate about helping people with ADHD have functional and fun lives. Sharon uses her lived experience, thirteen years of research and training at ADDCA to help and support those living with ADHD.
When her first son was diagnosed with ADHD she felt incredibly alone. She had heard her husband talk of the trauma of growing up misunderstood with ADHD and was determined to change the storyline for her own children.
She searched for help. There was information about how to help the child, but there was nothing on how to support the whole family. The journey of raising her beautiful boys with ADHD was isolating and exhausting. The stress severely affected her health. She realised that she was only surviving each day and things had to change. She began researching ADHD and developing systems to work with the ADHD brain.
She realised that she could change the environment around her children to work with their strengths. She loves anything that makes life with ADHD easier!
Sharon began to realise through working with families that often the parents had ADHD too. So trained as an ADHD coach to be in a position to help the adults directly.
Sharon’s company, The Functional Family, has assisted over 30,000 families. She has created online support groups where parents can ask questions, connect and support each other. She offers one on one coaching, parent mentoring, a regular blog, podcast and a membership and an incredible 6 week online program, ADHD and Families.
She wants to help families get back their time and energy, but most importantly create space for the good stuff!
The Functional Family is grateful to be acknowledged with many awards including AusMumpreneur awards, Local Business Awards and Cook Community Award.
